Today when I was driving home from class my E36 started acting up in a bad way. About 7-8 times on my drive home the check engine light would flash and simultaneously it would feel like the brakes would slam on. Any idea what could be causing this as I really don't want to be driving my car if it is just going to be braking randomly at highway speeds. My first thought was that it might be a faulty ASC sensor causing the car to think the wheels were spinning, but it still happened after I turned off my traction control.

My alternator had this problem fluctuating really bad. It would work fine and then sometimes push toooooo much voltage or not enough. Basically up/down/up/down. It never fully died. I just got a new one because "safe mode, electronic flickering, sputtering" got old while on the highway. If it's not the ASC sensor. Look into that. Alternator has given me so many issues with cars over the years.

I wish you guys would realize that the way to deal with trolls is to ignore them, if they don't get the attention they want they either leave or stop trolling
I realize I'm being hypocritical by posting in this thread

I might be wrong but I know on my van this happened about a year ago and everytime I would go faster then 100km/h the brakes would come on. I doing know what the problem is but I think it's one of the abs sensors because I took out the abs fuse and now it's fine just don't have any abs lol. Yo gangsta homie y don't u go buy a fresh ass Cadillac or some shit and put some Donks on it you would look fly as hfuck

see if you can borrow a code reader as opposed to driving to Autozone or similar auto parts store for scan.
Brakes acting on their own can never be a good thing

Brakes working on their own isnt a problem unless you cant control it in that case you shouldnt be driving anyway. Its the gas acting on its own and the brakes not working thats the problem
