Gizmo318i gets a Wagon!!

I took delivery of my E46 325i Touring Sportpack today, it was in PMB @ SMG Auto and the dealer had it delivered to my local dealer in JHB. They gave me 2 caps and a hamper with champaign, toblerone and peanuts too!!

I bought the car without looking at it personally which is something I never thought I would do. I can say that its more than I expected and Im as happy as a pig in sh!t...

Still under motorplan so no mods for now, that didn't stop me from fitting the black grills and silver indicator bulbs after having the car for 30min.

I took some pics today of the first mods I've done. Seeing as I want to keep the motorplan the mods can only be cosmetics and vehicle trim.
I installed a E90 sportpack gearknob and a center consol with armrest, including a de-badge and adding some polished tips. Andrew will recognize the exhaust tips. The big one is the new wheels, I was inspired by the other touring with these wheels on the forum:thumb:
E90 sportpack 17x8.5 all round. I have 2 17x8 rims too if I want a staggered setup but for now its wides all round.

my roof rack is missing 3 of those trim covers that go over the bolts. Any idea if they are sold separately? Thats the only thing that bugs me about my new wagon. Thanks.

I think your propshaft is 4 bolt. Possibly a 330d auto propshaft may work as it is 6bolt like the M3.

Installed the seats yesterday, got the wiring harnesses from a wrecked 330ci. Wired up to the stock fuse locations 65 and 70 as if it came from the factory with electric seats. The e46 isn't pre wired for any options unlike the e36 that is pre wired for everything!
Amazing how different seats can totally transform the feel of a car.

Between 2 sets at the moment, the BBS 2 piece Style 108's 8Jx18 ET47 and 8,5Jx18 ET50 with H&R 12mm spacers and bolts all round.
Or the white powdercoated CSL reps 8Jx18 ET35 and 9Jx18 ET35, no spacers.

Went on holiday to Malelane and to the Kruger National Park, had swapped the wife's 17's onto the car in fear of poor roads, they weren't needed. Except for one horrible 15km dirt road leading to the lodge we stayed at for 3nights in Malelane outside the KNP, took us 45min to drive 15km vs a SUV that would do it in 12min... Love the build! What's your gas mileage like with that setup? I'm considering an e46 or e39 touring with the increase of projects around the house. The only thing that really turns me off of the e46 is lack of a 330 variant here and the lack of 6 speed here in the states. The stock 2.5l won't quite cut it for me ;)

Thanks guys. On average its 10lt/100km but on my recent holiday of +-1500km it averaged 8.9lt/100km. I too hate the fact we didn't get the 330i variant here either so M54B30 swap is on the cards, I have all the loose parts to do it but not the time.

And now recently with the Z4M seats moving to the e36, I have installed M6 coupe E63 seats into the touring. At a later stage I will colour match them with the rest of the interior. These are really comfortable and luxurious and feel terrific in my daily driver, glad to have them.

Thanks for the compliment. The seats bolted up as they share the same e46 frame rails, plug is the same too. Only thing I had to do was transfer the 4door mounting point where the seat belt bolts onto the seat frame rail.

For some time my M3 diff had been leaking oil from the input flange seal so I dropped the diff to tend to it and also get the 3.23 gears installed later on. My spare diff was also leaking in the same spot so I replaced the seal on it first, topped up the oil and installed it so I can still drive the car while the other diff is being worked on.
