View Full Version : What is supposed to connect to this?

Lately, my car has not been able to idle at all. I'd start it, and the RPMs would go right back down to zero. I suspected a vacuum leak, so I checked all my intake tubing, and found that the rubber hose that connects to the throttle body has two ports on the bottom; one of which is open. What is supposed to connect to those ports?
For now, I ghetto rigged a rubber pipe to the throttle body and connected it to my air filter so the car is semi drivable. It idles smoothy now, but the second I touch the gas, it stalls. If I'm lucky and can get it past 2,000 RPM, it runs fine.
Sorry if this has been covered before, but I searched and didn't find anything exactly the same as what my car is doing.
Here's the part I'm talking about:

That tube looks to be cut in half.
Did you do the engine swap or buy it already done?
There wasn't a tube laying nearby that had fallen out?

^ I bought the car with the swap already done. I didn't see another piece of rubber tubing laying around, nor did the previous owner who did the swap mention it.

^ Where's the best place to buy one if that turns out to be the problem?

the two big ends should go to the airbox and MAF, the little one on the bottom should go to the idle air valve under the manifold I believe.

^ Ok, thanks. So only 1 bottom port is used? I'm not sure whether all 325s are like this or whether it was done during the engine swap.

yeah, my 325 has just one of those small ports used, it has the factory cap glued into the other one just like yours.
The hacked up end though, isn't factory obviously.. not sure why someone would do that.

^ The car had a ghetto intake on it when I bought it. I'm planning on getting a 3.5" intake soon.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but does anyone know the part number for the hose in my first post? My mechanic ordered one for a '98 S52, but it was too big for my throttle body.

No help on the part# ... but that 2nd small opening on the bottom is for ASC. If you don't have that order the non ASC version and it only has port. The bend is a little longer too as you don't have the ASC throttle body.
Edit: I thought the MAF was the same for the S52 and M52? But if it isn't he probably used the M52 MAF so order the elbow for that.

^ My car originally had ASC, but it was disabled. So I'm guessing I should order the non ASC elbow? Another thing, I have the M50 intake manifold. How can I tell if I have the M50 throttle body or the S52 one?

I got mine from ebay, item 140511107079. Bought many things from them actually.
check realoem.com for a part number.

No it isn't, the ASC-T doesn't have any vacuum lines. The ASC-T just has a 45* boot and one small opening out the bottom connected to the idle control valve in the underside of the intake manifold. I don't think M's had ASC-T, they have an LSD instead.

One port goes to the IACV and the other goes to that little PCV lookin thing that plugs into the front side of the valve cover (by the ground wire and front engine hook) IIRC.

Thanks man! I just ordered it off of eBay for $12.50. My mechanic wanted $42 for the same part. :lol3
