I'm considering buying a certified 2008 5 series all wheel drive BMW. I am only looking at cars with the small v6. I have never owned a BMW but my boss LOVES all his. Says they are very reliable and BMW is a dream to deal with in regards to customer service. I'm looking for a car thats going to be very reliable and not need to go in the shop a lot besides basic maintenence. I wanted to get the experts or owners opinion on how reliable these specific vehicles are. I'm looking at the AWD version due to the snow we get where I live (CO).
Thanks for the input.

Bmw's are amazing cars. My parents have a 535i and a brand new x5 and
There both amazing with absolutely no problems however, I have a 2007 BMW 328i coupe sport and I've had nothing but problems. Bought as a cpo 7 months ago and it's been in the shop at least 7 times for issues. You can check out my threads to see what I've gone through. Regardless though you can't go wrong with a BMW.

When you say "small V6" I am guessing you mean the non turbo version. If so, there are no issues. There are a lot of 08 528Xi's coming off lease. To be safe make sure you get one that is Certified Pre Owned (CPO). Also, look for a car that has low mileage, has been serviced at BMW and the service records show the car has not had history of problems. Stay away from buying a non BMW dealer or used car lot with no CPO or service history available.
Good luck!

BMW's are really hit or miss on realiablity. There is a reason why many will not own one without a warranty.
Make sure you get a CPO one and check the service history on it. If it all looks good then dive in. BMW's reward the driver like very few automobiles do and that is what people love about them.

skylolow has given you a correct picture. I'll take his suggestion.
