Was time to get rid of my old roll bar and put in a full IP cage. Car is still dirty as hell but really wanted to get the cage painted while I had a few days off. Pics were taken with a Fisheye so they are somewhat disoriented. Enjoy :D

Certified badass. The best part is that it's a track car and it serves a purpose. I can't wait to see the completed interior.

nice work!

how long did the whole process take??

The shop took a couple months for the cage because they were doing it as a side job. The paint took a day to prep and a day to paint.

I was fairly worried about over spray. The car had a nice layer of dust, dirt, and grease from the shop so everywhere I missed I can probably just wipe clean. Will have finished shots next week.

I don't claim to have any knowledge building cages, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that cut/welded door bars can break off in a side impact and impale the driver/passenger. I was pretty sure the only safe way was to bend two bars and gusset them together.

Still looks good though.

I have seen cages done both ways. I think I will have some gussets made and welded in there just to be on the safe side.

Update????????????????????????????? Also i am getting the splitter you have is it any good by chance?

Mainly waiting for parts to install the bimmerworld door panels and the bimmerworld dash plate to install my gauges. Also waiting on new light weight battery, shifter stuff, etc. I will have updates by the end of next weekend hopefully :D

I really like the splitter, I wish it went back a little further but other than that its great.

Ah more parts hahaha. I always have something coming to the house for my car.

I just put that splitter on and its sitting low but seems really strong. I hope it dosent take the bumper with it when i do crack it.

In for pic's.

Why no nascar bars on the drivers side?

I need to retain the window and dont think I really need it. I will probably end up adding some gussets in eventually though.
