since the car is parked for the winter i wanted to check to see if the oil pump nut has ever been taken care of. So i pulled the pan and was sitting under the car and was staring up the oil pump pickup and saw some odd chunks of something plastic. I am not familiar enough with the engine to know where these would come from. Any info would be great-----thanks

Looks like pieces of the timing rails (the clips)? If the chain does not feel sloppy with the tensioner still in, then it's likely from a previous repair. You need to get the timing cover off to fix it otherwise, which is not really an easy task.

thanks, the tensioner seems good to me, never any noise. do you think i am all set, is the the tensioner something that should be replaced at a certain mileage? It seems to be that most people just wait till ithey get loud before they replace them

If you don't have any issues, then I would chalk it up to previous repair, and move on
