View Full Version : My E34 snow driving

Inspired by the guy whose E34 sat for 3 months, I decided to take a video of my car starting up after sitting a while through a couple snow storms. Its super cold and hadn't been run - you can tell the battery is a bit low as it cranks. You can also see how nicely a 4 puck clutch engages first gear in the snow.
This is just for giggles :)

I love your magna flow. I'm gonna try to find one for myself. Sounds imtimidating.

Thanks - it has a lot to do with the exhaust being a single 4" pipe though. the dual 2.25 - 2.5" units don't sound quite the same.

The thing I love about your car is a subtle power. It sounds the part, and the engine backs it up. That's the kinda car a like. Sleepers are the best in my humble opinion.

As long as there is no salt and sand, snow is nothing else than not-yet-melted water. Good that you don't treat your car like a garage queen! that would be too bad

These are suppose to be alright, but they look ridiculous.

I run the stock manifolds, no cats to a custom 3.5" Y to 3" straight to a 3" Magnaflow...very similar sound to yours. I agree, you don't hear that tone often. Amazing when on it.

Strange...your video sounds, as I said, very similar :) Likely due to the fact that we're running similar configurations (A big single setup with the same brand muffler...) I had the same Magnaflow that is on my car now, on my '97 1.8T Audi Quattro with the HY35 @28psi...sounded like a UPS truck on crack. Much nicer with the V8.

Yeah. Your car is sick. Has MacR gotten his car over 15 mph lately?

that video while quite boring is an outstanding testament to the build....Cold as hell just hop in..turn the key and it fires..and thats on a motor that produces 685whp...not many builds can do that under those conditions

Yeah that was the intention behind the video really. You can hear the slow crank - the battery was a little low, but she fires :) That was literally the first start of the day, so no tricks. That's 1000cc injectors on a 2.8L in 15F weather w/ snow and ice all over the car :)

What traction control system do you have? What company and is it connected to the megasquirt?

Perfect! I think I like the 6k 8k is just too blue... but I'm looking at 35 watts so I'm having a hard time picking between 5k and 6k cause I want blue tint but not blue lights. and 5mall5nail5 I love your car if it goes missing and a promise note saying it will be loved don't be surprised! ;)

Wow, ridiculous doesn't describe it. Like diapers for your car.
I destroyed a set of cable chains in 30 seconds, with stock 15" wheels and 205 tires. Not much clearance back there between the wheel and trailing arm.

Yeah used to run megasquirt
