I found a guy selling some after market wheels off his 02 325i. I have a 97 E39 they are 18" wheels and the offset is 43 rear 38 front. Any idea if I can make this fit? One guy said that I may have to bore them out how much does this cost in general? He also said the offset could be wrong for the E39, if it is could I use spacers or is it the other way around and they will stick to far out?

E46 (3-series in general) use high offset wheels while the "big-body" cars (E39, E38, etc.) use low offset wheels. High offset wheels will sit too far under your fenders, and will at best look funny, or at worst, interfere with suspension components.

Besides, many cheaper aftermarket 3-series wheels are not made to handle the added weight of the bigger cars, not to mention the higher performance level of your 540i.
