Im going to be changing my 535d (2006) for a 530 xd (2007, 2008) chiefly for the x drive and am wondering if I should settle for an 06 model or spend more money on a later model.

Does anyone have a def list of the improvements between the various years?

Eff Dyn started from 07?

Main differences between the newer auto silver joystick style gear lever (with the P button on top) and the older standard stick ?

The new Idrive with new UI and extra buttons to dial started at 08?

Stripe style rear lights started from 07?

Finally ... Ive been told that I cant use my current winter tyres/rims for my 535d on the 530xd because they use different size tyres. Has anyone used standard rims on the XD?

Thanks

I'll get you for 2 of the questions. The difference between the shifters is primarily ergonomics from the drivers point of view. The old shifter moved the switches in the trans mechatronics, the new shifter has the electronic switches in the base and send the the signals down to the mechatronics. The big difference for you is if you spill your latte on the new shifter, it will cost $1k plus for a new one. The old style shifter is not as sensitive or expensive. The offset on the back wheel drive and Xdrive 5 series is different. You will not be able to use the wheels. Back wheel drive wheels will hit the fenders on Xdrive cars in 5 series.
