I plan on doing this in the spring also. Whats the deal with the heater return hose (#6 in the diagram) being so much more expensive. Would you recommend that all hoses be replaced or just the ones that look worn or not to have been replaced in the past. Being that my car is a 95 and close to 150k im assuming some have been replaced.

Unless you know, don't assume. I'd replace the big ones. I think there are 3 in the back that run to the core. I didn't bother looking at The diagram. Buy new hoses and new hose clamps. Just do it once and be done. Also any of the small vacuum lines under the intake. Way easier now than later. Just depends on how experienced you want to be with removing and installing an intake manifold.

Yes, those hoses coming from the fire wall to the heater valve are expensive. Not sure why...

Which one here is metal? Im looking at #4, 5, & 6
#6 is $100, and the rest are under $20

Number 6 can be exchanged with the one from the regular M52. I'm absolutely certain, as I did the same project a few months back.

I wouldn't spend $100 on that hose unless it was showing serious wear. Thats nuts. Shop around

+1 here. There's plenty to replace. What's the budget?

Thats the cheapest OE hose I could find.

Just clean the ICV with some carb cleaner. No reason to replace it unless you have a ton of miles or a problem.

You may want to replace your IAT too. There around $25 at the BMW dealer. I used a lug bolt to plug the hole in the M50 intake (where the IAT goes) and relocated to my intake behind the filter.

That maybe an issue for me since I plan on going FI soon.
