View Full Version : Are some options not available except for special orders?

I'm investigating a decked-out 535i xDrive including:

Convenience Package
Cold Weather Package
Premium I and II

Driver Assistance Package
Head-Up Display
Side and Top-View Cameras
Active Cruise Control

In my initial dealings with the sales guy, it would see that the first 3 packages are readily available, but the bottom 4 are essentially not made outside of a special order.

Can anyone tell me if this is (generally) correct? I really want all of these things, in which case I guess it means a special order (with the concomitant long wait and little/no discount).

As you suspect, it is very unlikely that you will find a car optioned as you want sitting on a dealer's lot. Given that, ordering it is likely the only way to accomplish your goal. The wait time will be 6-7 weeks. Not that long IMO given you end up with the car you really want. As to price, my experience (and it is very recent) is the dealer will negotiate off of MSRP on an order job. I picked up a new 535 this week that we ordered....$2K off of MSRP, with another $1.5K off due to the Holiday sale event. Reasonably satisfied with the pricing now that we're all said and done....
