Im soon to be taking on this task...

I already have a felpro headgasket. I also will be having the head resurfaced and replacing the headstuds.

My question is do i need to buy the headgasket SET? Obviously the set comes with more seals etc. i cant seem to find what all is included in it and its about $80. Or can i simply just replace the headgasket only?

My guess would be if im doing it might as well have the kit and replace everything but, is it neccesary??

Get the complete head set. The machine shop will want the valve stem seals from it, and you will need everything else that comes with it. Find out how much the shop is going to take of the head, you may need a thicker head gasket to compensate.

Im taking it in tomorrow to make sure that its the headgasket... pretty sure it is, hope its not a cracked head(the heads only 3yrs old)

in order of events this is what happend

Car overheated not full red about 3/4 mark immediatley pulled over etc... the radiator cracked at this point.
-then i took it to the shop found out injector 6 is bad ie. running on 5 cyl.
-replaced radiator not overheating anymore but the system keeps getting pressurized
-havent fixed injector issue yet waiting to find out if head is the issue.

would running on 5cyl have caused the headgasket to blow?
