View Full Version : Are offset FCABs (from E30M3) advisable for 3.2L M3?

Hey guys,

I have a 1997 M3, and I ordered OEM E30M3 offset front control arm bushings, because, well...that's what I did in the E30 world.

It dawned on me today that the 3.2L M3s already have updated front control arms that increase the caster. Would offset bushings make it too much? Should I be going back to stock centered CABs?

The remainder of the suspension set-up is H&R Sport + Bilstein sports, that is all.

Any factual advice appreciated.

Thanks!

No. No advised. The lca, lca bushing, upright, and the strut mount bearing, set the castor angle.

If you think about the geometry, when you install the offset bushing, it should force the wheel to the rear, and reduce castor. (the lower control arm has to pivot around the middle ball joint in the front subframe.)

So the answer is yes, you install centered bushings of some flavor. OE, UUC, Powerflex or some other option.
