ok so i have 98 m3 sedan obd1 conversion. lately when im drivin with my lights on (hid lowbeam & hid fog lights) when i flash my highbeams the radio shuts off & on and so does the AC unit.. it has been doing it more often, sometimes when i put my windows up they struggle to go up. & yesterday the abs & asc light came on while i was in the highway, i pulled over & shut the car off & on then the lights didnt come out... im thinking its the alternator, but my car always turns on with no issues.
ps. i have 2 12inch subs with an amp. & my radio is stock, maybe thats & issue too?

Yeah the radio is def a problem. Stock head units are not made for pushing out large amounts of bass. If you want to use the stock head unit than I would recommend getting a capacitor. If I were you i'd get rid of the stock headunit. One has to go - headunit or subs. Besides, you can get a decent headunit for cheap now a days.
Whats the amperage of your amplifier, it's possible your putting a strain on the alternator.
As far as having subs in a E36... Kinda takes away the Classy-ness of the vehicle, but whatever.

the amp is a alphasonik 520watts. i got a lc-1 level control to adjust the bass. To check if it stopped doing it i've been having it set all the way down (no Bass) . after a while of driving, when i flash the highbeams the ASC & ABS lights, radio head unit flicker & A/C control unit turns on when it wasnt even on.. sometimes the ASC & ABS light stay on but go away when i turn the car off/on.. im planning on selling the amp & subs soon, but what if after i remove them from the car it continues to do the same thing what might be the problem??
correction: stock ob2, never was converted.
thanks in advance for helpful input..

Sounds like you are overloading your car with all that stuff. Are you sure your battery and alternator are in good shape? Have you checked the quality of any grounding that carries a high current in the engine and the audio? Have you checked to see if the dash illumination is dimming with the HID loads on?

Are you on factory HID low beam & HID fog lights? I assume HID high beam also. Is there a relay to power the lights connected directly to the battery? The start up current is huge for HIDs and when you flash brights, you may have 3 sets on. That last surge can take down the car alt or electrical fuse box or damage it. You can definitely be over the 90 amp rating of the normal alt. There is a 120 amp available if you must drive with all that lights on. Relays may protect the fuse box.
