Hello all,

I would like to buy a set of XXR 521 in 8,5x18 and 10x18 for my 600hp euro M3 turbo

However, the very low price makes me fear something bad quality wise

Have you ever tried this wheels of the road of the track ?

Many thanks

;-)

They are cheap wheels. You get what you pay for remember that. If you don't mind replacing then every few years because they bend or crack go for it.

I'd go with a set of Linea Corse BBS LM reps. Will run about 1200 or so but it's worth it. Find a set of used OEM CSL wheels. Go with CSL reps. Just don't do a sportmaxx or XXR. Those belong on hondas.

you know if it's the same factory that produces Rota and XXR ?

XXR and sportmax are on in the same I believe. Looks at an XXR 501 wheel and a sportmaxx 501. Same wheel.

Rota's have come a long way but are still known to crack and or tear apart.

XXR and Sportmax is the same compagny but ROTA is a differente compagny but all this wheels come from Asia is not possible to find a wheel factory in all street

In Germany BBS make or lot of other brand the name AND the quality is not the same but this is make in the same factory.

Lot of french drifters have Rota for the track and have no probleme with, but Rota is a little more exepensive how XXR and maybe not produce in the same place.

I must find customers from XXR for have a real advice

I am not questioning what you say!

ps: sorry for my bad level in english

Yes I follow what you're saying, it's like Privat is the same company as Konig. Just saying you get what you pay for, good wheels are more money no matter how you slice and dice it. And how do you know that the drifter didn't at one point have a problem. Stereo types and such don't get created just because. The joke surrounding Rota's is they crack and self destruct because they do for real.

XXR's have torn apart as well, and sportmax's are of a slightly higher quality then XXR's even though it's the same company. You really think a company would have there lower markteted stuff be just as good as top line. BBS wheels are of higher quality then the other wheels you talk about made by them. It's like BMW making a 3 series that competes or is even better then a top range 7 series. That doesn't happen in business because that is poor business managment. So you can think what you want about cheaper lower quality units from the same manufacturer but it all comes around in the end to you get what you pay for.

Going fast is optional, stopping and turning are not. You're wheels and tires are if not the most important component on your car as they are your only contact with the road. Do not cheap out on either of those two or you may end up in a guard rail. Buy a good set of rims once, you will be much happier then going through sets of rims.

If you want a good track whgeel Enkei just came out with there RP-F1. Light weight. SSR makes excelent stuff. If you jsut want something to look good instead of a track wheel Linea Corse is excelent, Beyern is made especially for BMW, Velocity motoring wheels are of a high quality.

There's alot to chose from, it's your car and do what you want but in my mind whees are one thing to not cheap out on.

beyern is TSWs bmw line, just a marketing ploy....still a TSW
linea corse is just another chinese/taiwanese wheel
VMR....once again just another chinese/taiwanese wheel

just food for thought

haha i own xxr 521
8.5x18 all around.

dont get black whatever you do. and if you are gonna have 10's in the back you better roll and pull your fenders like crazy for them to fit. quality wise they are decent but after about a week of owning them there was a tiny piece missing of the lip but that was probably due to my stretched tire and LA roads. think i knicked a pot hole. 215/35/18 on a 8.5" wide wheel is a pretty good stretch. and honestly for $120/ea it is alot better than chipping BBS wheels thats for sure

I just have a question after reading this regarding the paint since I am also considering XXR's for my BMW. Couldnt you strip the paint and then apply a much better paint onto it. Or perhaps bake it on?
