Coil testing questions

according to Bentley , Ohm readings for the coil secondary should be 6 Kohms, which is what I get but the primary should be .5Kohms and I get , well zero, actually I get continuity, no reading . I think I am doing this correctly but would like some feedback.
I Should I get a 500 ohm reading on the 1k scale, correct???

Correct, zero resistance on the primary means you have a shorted coil, its no good.

yup, but I was reading the scale wrong , I have .5ohms at primary so it is not the issue
