Has anyone been able to access the addresses from their contacts? Names and phone numbers appear but nothing else. The BMW website says "Limited Compatibility" for this currently but I was curious if anyone out there was able to select and address from their iPhone and then guidance will take you there...
Thanks

I have an iPhone 3GS. The addresses of my contacts show up properly on my 535i. I can select the address and start navigation. It should be the same with the iPhone 4 considering it's the same iOS.

On the car, I select Contacts from the top level menu. Then I get a list of my contacts with the Bluetooth symbol since they are coming from the phone. Selecting a contact gives me the phone numbers and the address.

The only thing I can think is to make sure the addresses for your contacts show up as addresses on the iPhone and not in some kind of "notes" section or something like that. My contact information came from my Mac Address Book app. If you are using Windows or Outlook maybe there's an issue there.

Right now there are only 4 phones that are known to work with the office functions on commbox equipped vehicles. They are all At&t, and none of them are iPhones. These are the phones listed on BMW's site as supporitng the office functions. Even with these phones there are still some limitations.

what is the point of the contacts if there is such limited compatibility? Does anyone have any idea when the updates are coming through to allow more phones? I have a Blackberry Bold.

Increased functionality may come with future software updates. Also, there may be more functions that are accessable if you use a docking cradle, however the iphone 4 cradle is not available yet. The phones that I listed are the only phone that BMW knows current support the vehcle functions, however many other phones could potentially work to some extent as well. The biggest hurdle is making the hardware/software work together, as there is very loose guidelines and almost no stardization of bluetooth technology. Meaning Samsung makes it their way, Sony does it their way, Apple does it their way, and so on. So with so many different kinds of technology being used they don't all work well together. Bluetooth was developed as a way to wirelessly trasmit files a long time ago. It was never initially intended to have such a high level of functionality as it does now.
