Not sure but when mine died in my 540, I was in pinch and grabbed a used 1 out of a 525(I think...either way a 6 cyl car) and it has worked perfect for over a year now. Only difference I know of is where it's mounted in the engine compartment. I'm sure someone else will chime in though so hang tight.
Thanks! when you say it's different where it's mounted do you mean just a different place or a different bolting pattern? you had to alter the part in any way to fit?
anyone? please. want to order quick in order to make the repairs for the Holiday trips :D

No meaning the location of the booster is different in v8 cars. No modification required at all. Compared the 2 side by side and they were identical so I went for it.
Thanks.
they guys from pelican replied, first asking if my breaks system were Lucas ? i didn't understand, than replied saying it's not compatible.
will go with the most expensive one. :(

Can anyone shed light on what brake booster I can use to replace the deprecated OEM Lucas Girling booster that came in my V8 540i? Quoted post below suggests a 525i 6-cyl brake booster will work, but I'm not sure if he is saying he mounted the 525i brake booster on the firewall, or on the mount by the engine as in the e34 540i. Also not sure if he is talking about a 525i brake booster or a later model.

Necro-thread, but relevant question. M60 is too wide to fit a normal brake booster in the normal location, and anyway there's no provision there to bolt it up even with the engine removed; spot-welded sheetmetal brackets would have to be rearranged. I read cmgreensr's post rather unambiguously as having bolted the M50 booster to the M60 location.

I am wondering if he (cmgreensr) might be talking about the dual-diaphragm boosters used on the E60, E90, or even the F30? The E60 and E90 boosters look to be identical, but for a wider fork that takes the pedal linkage.
