Actually, I know it's worth it in the sense that I own a Black M3 in Phoenix Arizona, & the heat is notorious for destroying electronics & weather seals. I've already had my CD changer, NAV computer, & door seals replaced under warranty since I bought the car.
Anyways, they offered me the Gold Coverage for somewhere around $2500 that will extend my warranty until 2008. Here's a list of all the details Gold_Coverage_Doc (http://members.cox.net/tomasjcarrillo_xp/GoldCoverage.doc) and I was wondering if you guys have any knowledge of a better deal through BMW? I was also wondering if any of you have actually bought an extended warranty, and if you thought it was worth it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

PagalM3, Well, look at it this way, your '02 ride will have warranty for 4 yrs. That takes you up to '06. Ext Warranty covers up to '08. You will only come out ahead of the game if your M3 breakdown expenses exceeds $2500 in 2 years after fact warranty is up! Its an insurance policy. It does not cover maintenance items that will cost you $$$ too after the maintenance contract is over. M3 SMG is quite a tricked out car....so its all up to you....are you man enough to go without the warranty for 2 years:).
I'm considering the ext warranty too....but I'm thinking the internet based ones....dont know yet.

Foolish S54 M3 owner...
You forget, the S54 motor has a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty and I'm sure you could get them to include the tranny.
That warrany covers so many things you could either fix yourself or fall into the engine coverage.
The only thing might be brakes...but seriously, if you can't change the pads yourself, you probably can't change your own oil either. Most of that stuff you can fix on your own.
And the only useful things you'd want covered i.e. power windows is not covered.
The extended warranty really isn't worth it.
Just my $0.02

Chris,
Apologize for my ignorance, I'm not quite BMW technical/code savvy....but what is S54? Is that the engine code for the E46M3?
What about the 540i6MT ext warranty, do recommend stashing my cash in E39maintenance/mod bank too?
Thanks in Advance,

Foolish M3 owner? No, its PAGALM3 owner, which is Hindi for 'Crazy M3 owner'. :D Anyways, I wasn't aware of the engine warranty, and I'll look into seeing how the transmission comes into play in terms of defects and such. I guess my major concerns have to deal with the electronics, which I've already ran into problems with in the past. And upon reading the offer, it looks like even those items are not covered unless you pay more for the options. It looks like I have some calls to make & questions to ask with this new info, thanks!

Yeah,
S54 is the engine code.
The warranty on the 5 series I imagine is similar to the gold one. Although, your motor doesn't have the same kind of warranty, so it might not be a bad deal.
Although, the way I see it, having to replace parts give you an excuse to add modifications to your car.
Brakes go out? No problem, it's time for X-drilled rotors, steel braided lines, and some race pads! :stickoutt
Electrical problems i.e. stereo failure? I guess it's time for a new head unit, speakers, and subs...
