strange grinding noises.

Hello. I was not really sure how to search this topic. I don't know really how to describe the noise made by my car, besides grinding and creaking. It usually happens when I make turns, although the noise persists while driving on a straight, at times. My car is a 1990 525iA (m20). I've actually been driving with this problem for a few months and cannot tell any difference in driving the car.

Oh and another problem I'm having is with my onboard dash. Ever since I brought my car in for a smog test, I've been getting error messages saying "CODE TACHO" and "CODE MILES/KM".

Anyone get these messages too? know what to do about them?

This is my first car and I'm still learning about it. Please don't be mean:D

there should be a code list on here somewhere if you search.

as far as the noise, I really don't know which direction to go with the way you described it. Did you check your power steering fluid?
