iam almost ready to take the head off (to do the headgasket) and im trying to line up the timeing marks..........

my damper looks mothing like the one in the pictures in the bentley manual.

the pictures show a o/t marks and mine i can see no marks. also mine has teeth all the way around except for one spot and t6he one in the picture has no teeth.

its an m30.

does anyone know how to line this up so i dont bend my valves?:(

its freezing out and i want to get the head off today before it gets dark and really cold.

Try it on youtube. I found a good video once. Have you checked with the search function?

nothing on youtube (first place i checked too) found something on m20 but not m30. i just said f' it. it put the dowel straight up. i will just make sure i dotn turn the motor over in the mean time, i figure if it dont move and i put it back in the same place, whats the diff?

tried searching, no luck really.

all i have left to do it unbolt the 4 studs on the 2 manifolds. and undo the head bolts and she should come right off. i do realize i will prob break a stud in the mainfold though (i will heat them first anyway).

the injector harness was a royal pain. dont know if i got apart the correct way, but its apart.

im not ordering my head gasket set till i find out if i need a new head or not. if i do need a new head, doe anyone know a cheap source? i dotn mean a $3,000 reman one. i mean like does anyone have one thats not cracked that they want to seel? i didint see any in the for sale section.

plus the rubber hose that goes from the vaf to the thottle body actually fell apart so i have to get on of those and the bottom of the vaf the plastic looks like it melted and warpeded.

also if anyone has any tips i appreciate it.

thanks
leon
