So some of you know that I have been suffering from a leaky fuel tank. I picked up a salvage tank that is in pretty good shape. EXCEPT, when I began to remove the clips on the lines ( i had to use pliers because they were the one time use type) One of the evaporation lines snapped on me. It was the line that is next to the filler neck and of those 2 it was the bottom line.

My friend tells me ( a mechanic ) that because it was a bit rusty that I should return the tank and try to find another one. The tank is in pretty good shape other wise. Before I start that painful search again I was hoping to check in here first for any innovative ideas on repairing this. ( keep in mind that this line is, i think aluminum, and runs inside the tank to the shallow end and then connects to a hose that runs to an evap tank behind rear wheel well.

MANY THANKS TEAM

Can't it be repair with regular fuel hose?

It is welded on to the tank. The line on the inside is connected to the wall and pokes out on the outside where a line gets attached

What part do you mean just to clarify.

If it is even shown on that pic.

Or a pic of it would be even better!

Ok i can't take a pic now but i could later this evening... I can say that its not in that pic. But if you rotate that image so that you are looking at the end with filler neck on it then just to the right of the filler neck where it attaches to the tank there are two lines there (the bottom of those two snapped on the outside of the tank). If you are looking in side of the tank through the sending unit space you can see the lines running in and over to the shallow end.

weld it back on.

after cleaning the tank with water.

once it is welded, rinse the tank with a gallon of alcohol to get rid of the water.

the piece on the outside is actually snapped off but the interior is still fine... soooo I don't really know what to weld exactly...

If you still have the piece that snapped off, just JB weld it.
Both lines go to the expansion tank in the upper rear passenger fender.
Then there are lines that go to the Charcoal canaster. My line going to the canister rotted. I sealed both ends, made no difference and no emmisions test where I live.

i guess i should not have thrown the piece out... i now need to come up with a way to fabricate a new piece for the clip to go on to OR come up with some sort of a way to securely fasten the hose with out that piece.
