So, yesterday I drove my buddies 335i coupe which has a GIAC stage I upgrade. I guess the only thing I can say is holy crap..., the thing was a rocket!!

Long story short, I'm hooked. I need to get a sedan (for the kids) and am interested in either the 335i or 335xi. The ultimate goal would be to go with a GIAC stage II upgrade and I'm wondering what you guys think in regards to which one (335i or xi) is easier to upgrade, more reliable, and will ultimately be quicker?

Also, is their anything that I should be concerned about in regards to purchasing a 2008 with 44k miles? I'm looking at one around $24k.

Thanks for your input.

Is it a software (chip) upgrade? If so then I don't think it would make a difference. If you want the AWD go with the xi but if not you can just stick with the regular 335i.

Isn't this an example of putting the cart before the horse? :confused Choose your car, then figure out your upgrade strategy.

I'm looking at it the other way around. My end goal is to have a very fast 335. I'd hate to purchase a xi and find out that the upgrade parts are way more expensive. Or that the awd transmission cant handle the horsepower. So, that is the reason that I threw this post out there.

I dont think because of the trim ie. xi i should cause performance prices to rise , I could be wrong though, clarify anyone?

Please elaborate on what very fast means exactly? 0-60? 1/4 mile? track time? autox? etc. If you don't know exacrtly what your objective is, you are not going to end up where you want, not the east way at least!

You know the stock 335i is itself crazy powerful. I suggest going to a dealership and test driving both the RWD and AWD version. See which one you like better, get that one and then after say a few months or even a year then decide to upgrade it. You might find it more rewarding getting a feel for the stock car and then getting the upgrade. You'll be more suited to handling the power if you've driven the stock version for a while before the "rocket". Just my two cents, it's your money and your car regardless so you can do whatever you please.
