S52 Swap Info Needed!

I have done some looking around through some older threads. Couldn't find anyone with any information on the swap i am trying to do, although i know people have done them. I was planning on taking an S52 engine from an M3 and swapping it into my E34 525i M50 with a 4 speed automatic. My questions are , basically, what do i need. Obviously i need the S52, I think i need transmission, drive shaft and differential. I wanted to try and keep my original transmission, is this possible? Is there anything i am missing? Another question is, would it be better to try and find a wrecked M3 with the S52, because i was planning on buying a shiny, freshly rebuilt S52 from the bay. Differences between OBD1 AND OBD11 ? About how long does it take do? Hope to hear from you!

There's a write-up somewhere of someone doing exactly what you want to do -- S52 and diff swap. He does a 5-speed swap too. Do a search on BF.C and if it's not there, Google it.

Not sure why you'd want to keep your weaksauce slushbox with an S52, but you'd better have it built.
