cold guages dont work?

ok it has happened 3 times now, i drive to work and everything is ok. i dont have a long drive but it is long enough to be at operating temp and heat the interior enough that your fingers dont freeze off. i park and go into work and when i come out in the morning to start it to let it warm up, i have all of my information(mileage, trip, gas, etc.etc.)...for about 2 seconds. then it disappears and all i have is the backlighting, the backlighting in the lcd data/ info lines stay on without the guage lights on. my guage lights all work still but i have no speedo or anything to get me home... if i drive for 5 or 10 minutes, shut it off and restart it, they all come back. what box or connection or relay could have water in it that freezes and only removes my info? i have not had a spare minute in the past couple weeks to discern which computer is which(i know i should have done that when i got it) so pictures are appreciated haha

anyone?? here, if its not raining at just above freezing its well below freezing and my car wont fit in my one bedroom apartment that lacks a garage.. so any place i should start looking would help

Problem is likely bad capacitors in the cluster. Do a search for cap replacement and you should find it. Very common on older E34's.
