So the pump was rusted up, the line at the pump broken,
the 'y' in the hood split, and one of the
"Valve F windshield cleaning" (p# 61661389040)
was peeing out the side of itself.

Sheesh.

So, before I split the 'windshield cleaning' valve apart to see what failed,

what the heck does it do?

Made a mess of the hood blanket, that's fer sher.

It's described as a "check valve." It probably allows the washer fluid to only flow out and not to back-flow so the fluid feed lines empty, dry up, and clog.

I've got a new one and I find I can't blow thru it in either direction with just lung power. So it's more than just some fluid filter.

those damn check valves weren't cheap either, I bought two from RMeuropean and got the cheaper set and they didn't press onto the fitting on the hood. I got the OEM set and they pressed on, I also replaced the pump. Those check valves are a joke though.

oh, crud, RealOEM said they were less than 5 bucks, and I figured that meant
that they weren't outrageous.

One squirter does an OK job- maybe that's the way it's going to stay!
