The lower part on my front and back bumpers is grey which I really don't like. Is it possible to paint them with some BMW spray paint and it actually look good?

I think with lots of rubbing you can get the grey off and find matching paint underneath. Try searching. Tower Paint out of Oshkosh Wi. used to sell matching paint in spray cans, (they do have a website) but since the fire IDK if they still do.

Some of the grey has come off in places and it just looks like the black plastic under it.

Get it done professionally unless you want to have it chipping first time a rock hits it ... or embrace the grays.

I was quoted 200 by a guy that has done body work on some past cars for me (and that does a fantastic job) to paintmatch all my lowers, but I really just kinda don't think I'd like it. :dunno

You can get spray cans of OEM paint from www.touchuppaintonline.com. I had to use their paint to paint a new mirror because mine got ripped off of my car on mischief night this year! A can is only about $20 and it's enough to paint a whole bumper. The quality is great though.

In the picures the paint doesn't look like it matches well with the rest, kind of looks like it's duller? In person does it look the same?

^ He did a really good job, but it LOOKS like he didn't apply enough clearcoat. The "dull" look that you are seeing is that, paint is never "shiny"; its the clearcoat that gives it that shine. Applying 3-4-5ish coats'll make it look like glass (if you use high quality clear coat, not rattle cans..)

So yeah, if you want to spend like $50 and probably most of your day making the front and rear look nice, then DIY exactly how it was showed in that thread.

Sand down the bumper using appropriate grit, prime it, sand it, water sand it, mask up, lay down paint, wait, clear coat, wait, and repeat clearcoat.

when i 'matched' my grey lowers i just used satin krylon. Mind you, my car is black. I'd imagine it would really only work on white or black cars. slocar, i think if you did get rid of the grey your car would look gobs better. You should give it a shot.

What grit sand paper did you use? Do you have any, before and after shots?
