What are alternative ways to removing the 36mm front crank hub nut?

I don't always use a hub locking tool and a socket/breaker bar, but when I do, I prefer dos sequis.

I use the crank holding fixture combined with a 3/4" breaker bar and socket. Remember, you have to retorque things. Might as well use a method you can use for both removing and reinstalling.

See my signature. I have the crank tool and will rent it out.

I would need this asap or else im waiting til next weekend to get it done. I dont think its a great idea but a few people mentioned locking the fly wheel with a bar and doing it that way with a big breaker bar.

Why are you removing the nut?
Locking the flywheel is not a good idea. That much torque could break the crank.

Really? Is that a fact or is it theory, reason I ask, I would never have thought that and might have considered the above method.

You are essentially holding one end of the crank still (the flywheel end), while placing a good amount of torque on the other end of the crank (the balancer end). This creates torsion and can crack a crank.

I have to admit it's plausible. In the past, I've always locked the flywheel to remove the nut on all my M30's, some with breaker bars and others with impact guns. My e23 turbo went to 300k miles before it succumbed to rust but with the engine still purring. That nut came off twice during its life.

But now you've made me just a bit nervous.

A fairly powerful impact gun will usually do the trick.

My trusty old Scorpio YU-1281T with 1/2" drive managed my M30B35 (-89), M20B23 (-85) and M20B25 (-88).

How do i get an impact gun to fit in front of the engine? engine is in the car. btw, i'm replacing the my timing chain and components since i've rebuilt my head.

With the engine in place an impact gun might not fit, you're right. Removing the fan shroud might help. If you already drained the block from coolant, you can remove the radiator and that will create plenty of space.
