2011 BMW 328i security alarm system

I want to have a security alarm system installed on my 2011 328i and was told, starting with 2010 model, alarm system is installed in the BMW factory and dealer no longer sells and installs alarm system. Is this true? Is there another option I can consider? Thanks

Yes its true. After March of 2009, the BMW alarm system is only available as a factory installed option.

That's news to me. The car has always been prewired, did that change lately? Honestly I do not care about the alarm to have bothered to check on my car.
