USED to own a 2004 330ci, loved it. Sold it for a Porsche Cayenne (don't ask why lol). ANYWAY just got into an accident with a different car (pickup truck), and was looking at jumping into another BMW.

Went to a dealership tonight and checked out a 2008 335xi, pretty loaded (no nav), and it has 65000 miles on it. It is NOT certified pre-owned.

I sat down to talk for a minute about warranties and for a 3 year, 36000 mile warranty they want like 5000 for it. Am I losing it or is that just crazy? Other warranties I have seen cost between 1000-2000 on other vehicles, even carmax offered one on a 2008 328i for 1550.

Could really use some advice, I have 2 days to pick because my insurance company won't pay for my rental any longer. I don't feel right about buying a used car, especially with that mileage with no warranty. Thanks in advance.

Run don't walk from that deal. Find a nice CPO car and don't even mess with paying for a warranty out of pocket. If you must, pay for a rental out of your own pocket for a week or two rather than feel pressured into a bad vehicle purchase that will haunt you for years.

Is the mileage a red flag?? Or is the warranty that is crazy?

I've never heard of a warranty that expensive...

Warranty for sure is crazy - mileage is up there. What is your budget for this car? You should be able to find a low mileage CPO 335i in the $27-31 thousand range no problem.

i'd like to go no higher than 23000 before tax title blah blah blah....thats why this is appealing. Funny thing is that I ran into a BMW dealer at the local Panera Bread this morning. I told him about the car and warranty, and he spit his coffee out when I told him. Then he threatened my life if I went through with it lol. He said the car is not in question, its the dealer and warranty.

I appreciate the help, I'm going back to the dealership I originally test drove with to stick with a 2007 328i CPO.

If you're curious, the dealer is called Fidelity Motor Group in Illinois. I'll keep you guys informed on my purchase, I just want to get back into a bimmer. There is no other car like it.

Good call. You will enjoy the car more knowing it is covered! The 328i is a great ride ...
