I found a 2001 330i for sale at a local used car lot. Its silver with black interior, sedan and M wheels. It looks to be fully loaded, 77k on the clock, auto trans, and i believe has the 'sports package'. KBB shows a retail of $10,500 and NADA shows a price of $13,500 for the same car. They want $12,500. I really want this car... but here's my dilemma.

In order to make this work, I have to trade my '08 Dodge Caliber SRT/4. For those not familiar with this car, its the turbo 4 sport caliber. One of only a handful made... Deep down, its still a Dodge so I know resale is not great. I have had the car brand new and made 17 payments on it plus the down payment. I can't seem to figure out if this will be a good deal or not. Trade the dodge in and take a loan and get the 330i. Payments are projected to still be lower than what I was paying on my dodge but the dodge was brand new and this car has 77k on it. I know in a few miles i'm going to have to sink some $$$ into it. I guess the same could be said about the dodge.

I'm just at whits end here as to what to do. I don't want to loose this car but at the same time I don't want to make a bad decision. I don't think buying the bimmer is a bad call necessarily but the whole idea originally was to get a used bimmer and lower my monthly payments so I can save some $$$....

Please help, I know this isn't your decision to make (as everyone has told me) but I do value others input. I am very indecisive with the menu at McDonalds so you can't even begin to imagine how indecisive I am right now over a car. Its not like I just go up and order another #2 supersized if I don't like it.

Thanks,
Al Conforti

You like debt? If so then trade in your Caliber, if you dont like debt and would like to enjoy the fruits of your labor later on down the road keep the caliber. Chances are you will end up upside down when you go to trade it in. Im assuming your SRT still has the warranty, with the E46 your not gonna get that. Your better off putting some money aside and picking up an older E30 or E36 you can find smoking deals on these cars and since they are older parts are a dime a dozen and you will learn something about these cars along the way. And stay away from McDonalds its the reason why America is so fat
