I'm asking only because my dad's f(#@$&@#ing making me sell my car while im gone to london, and i figure i should upgrade to something nicer when i get back... 330CICs are too expensive and I've never seen a 328CIC.. only 323CICs... and there's no way in hell im getting a 323..
Im so mad right now... If i dont sell it, he will while im gone...
Im thinking about hiding the pink slip.. since its mine..

No, only a 323 in 2000. 1999 was the E36 328iC then the E46 323 in 2000 followed by 330 and 325 in 2001.

Just get a 325CIc, if you need more power do a Technik kit or a ASA SC

Is there any difference in engine/tranny between the 328 and 323 anyway?
I always thought that the 328/323/325 shared the same engine :dunno

They share the same six cylnder's and the 325 and 323 share the same literage. I always thought the 323 became the 325 again because of they just wanted to renamed it to fit into the scheme better.
323 - 2.5L 170hp
325 - 2.5L 184hp
328 - 2.8L 194

What about the current 325? What hp does that have? My 325 w/vanos has 184. I thought the current e46 325 had double vanos and grrr. This gets way to confusing sometimes.

Here's how the lines progressed
E36 318 -> E36 323 -> E46 323 -> E46 325
E36 325 -> E36 328 -> E46 328 -> E46 330
The E46 325s have less HP than the E36 325s because they are the equivalent of the E36 318 in the US.

Not to mention more restrictive intake manifolds and VANOS settings which, while they hurt top-end power, made the E46 325 more torquey off the line, necessary in the heavier car. Also, the marketing department fiddled with the advertised HP a bit.

Yea, yea I know how the numbers went that were on the cars. I thought that the e46 325 had the same engine as the 323, just rebadged because they didn't wanna here the shit about the 323 acc. being a 2.5L. So it's now my understanding that the e46 325 is a completely new 2.5L engine that is completely differnt from either the the e36 325 or the 323 2.5L engine. Understood.
