it says for the m30 the drain plug is on the exhaust side of the block by cylinder 6. is that #6 the last one by the firewall or the one up front?

Cylinders are ordered front to back, then right to left (doesn't apply to I6's). Cylinder 1 is nearest the radiator; 6 is nearest the firewall.

I guess i have to jack vehicle up to access block drain plug then. if thats the case in my m30 then whats that big bolt up front on the exhaust side by cyl#1?

I'm thinking chain tensioner piston.

Off topic demetk, what turbo system are you running? is your ecu stock and how much power are you making, I'm asking 'cos thats my long term goal(boost)

Yes, you'll have to jack up the car to get to that plug. It's way up there, underneath the exhaust manifold, between cylinders 5 and 6 towards the firewall. Prepare to get drenched in coolant when you pull that plug; it'll get everywhere.

745 turbo and manifold, stock ecu, stock injectors, FMU.

Currently the system is in test mode with low boost (3 psi). Today I'm installing an O2 tap to cut the O2 signal under boost. Once I get the blow-off valve installed then I can start the tuning process by adjusting the FMU with the wideband.
