Haven't driven my 2007 328i in over 10 days. Started it up, pulled it out of the garage and there was a very thin layer of oil the size of a 3"x5" index card. I have not had a problem until today. Oil change was done about 500 miles back with no issues.
I have pulled it back in the garage, placed cardboard in the same area, and so far no leaks as it cools down?
This can't be the issue of the temperature dropping to 20 F then back up to 60 F and not driving the car, can it?
Thanks in advance for replies.

Best advice I would have is to keep a close eye on the oil level, and stick that cardboard underneath the car when you park it. That's really a good way to detect if/where the leak is coming from.
I doubt that ambient temperature has much to do with your problem, but again, just keep an eye on it. That small of an amount of oil isn't going to hurt too much, so I wouldn't be overly concerned at this point.

If your car has a bottom engine cover, you will need to remove it to find the leak, as the cover will direct the oil to someplace inconsequential.

I was hoping it was something simple/odd. I just dropped it off yesterday as it is under 100% full warranty, and as usual, the service department was very polite, said that it should not leak AT ALL no matter what the temperature.
They also stated the same as previous poster, that the undercarriage engine cover would actually give you a false reading at where the leak may be as the oil could flow across the plastic.
I knew this based on past careers, but it was nice to speak to a knowledgeable staff.
No call today, waiting patiently and I will report back so we can all learn and understand any issues.
Thanks for the suggestions and replies

I had to replace the rear, main seal on my 330i. Not cheap. Long story and there is a thread on it here but hopefully that is not where the leak is coming from. Good luck!

Looks as if there is a plug from the transmission to the motor or visa versa for sending information etc. It was leaking slightly. Common according to the service folks. All is well, easy fix.

Hey, just a heads up, it was def oil and not transmission fluid ? I remembering reading something about potential leaks from the transmission on some of these models. Just a heads up to keep an eye on it. Good luck !

no, I believe it was motor oil. Light brown, and had that motor oil smell. Unless I am missing something with some new type of transmission fluid that is not reddish in color. Lokking under the car the past 2 days and no issues. They even replaced a section of the exhaust that had a cracked weld and was leaking condensation, and the felt/rubber seal around the sun roof that didn't look so "new" anymore.
Love my service center and the full warranty. Even purchased a nice gift for the service lady who has been taking care of my requests since my purchase. Still have 2 years CPO left also. I know it won't cover everything, but as much as I drive it, and it will not see much rain and never snow, my issues should be minimal.

check the oil with the dipstick.. ooopss, cant do that.... sorry, i am just supporting my theory that deleting the dipstick is stupid.... hope your problem is not seriously expensive.

Hey, great ! If you can't see anymore fluid under the car then they must have solved the problem. Great news :redspot Just keep an eye out over the next few weeks and obviously check your oil level every couple of days. Have fun !:D

No you are just being silly, to put it nicely. How does having a dipstick help in this case! It is like blaming runflats for the HPFP failure and soft material peeling :rolleyes.
Again, if you have nothing constructive to add, don't feel obliged to post.

+1, but I would say do it daily since the sensors make it so easy and convenient to do so from the comfort of your driver seat.
