Just bought a beautiful 97' 740iL (80k miles) in mint condition, dark blue and am trying to decide whether or not I should keep all 4 mud flaps on. I think it will better without but what are your thoughts?

Well, if you like them, keep them, if not get rid of them.....

If I lived in an area that I needed them, I would keep them on. They are not a big distraction from the look of the car.

I personally find mud flaps very unappealing on all cars excluding 1980s Buicks.

True, but I find rock chips and sand/salt destroying my fender paint worse.....

The BMW stock flaps are not too bad. If you take them off, PM me, I would be interested in buying them from you

Agreed. This is exactly the reason why I purchased it. Plus it makes it easier to keep the grime off the bumper.

OP, If you do not like it, remove it.
Personally, I like them. Most don't like them b/c it makes the rear less sporty/aggresive.

If you have no use for them I don't see why you shouldn't take them off. Personally I wouldn't keep them on.

I don't like the look of mudflaps on my cars... I think they take away from the body lines of a car.

But if you want OEM factory / usefulness...keep them

There's no doubt they don't look all that good but I think there a godsend. The rear lower quaterpanels on every car/truck I've ever had were chewed up w/o mud flaps. I run 255/70 width tires and they don't stop everything, but they stop enough for me. Mine are staying.

On cars, and women there's no place for them.:shifty
