Sometimes the speed on the cluster works on a friend's 2000 E38, sometimes not. The Xmas lights are on in the dash. Speed Sensor? Where are they?

ABS sensors could be dirty, remove them and try cleaning them, that should help

The ABS sensors should be in all 4 wheels, correct?

Is the speed sensor installed against the driveshaft? Where exactly?

one on each wheel nothing on the driveshaft....
