For a while now my family has been searching for another e38. This is so that we can more or less keep it until the royal red one dies or use the new one as a summer car and the royal red one as a winter beater.

ebay number if link doesn't work: 330492710433

This one has all of the options we want including the cold weather package, sun shades, below 60k miles, and it is silver.

Does it look like a good deal? Price is not the biggest concern.

You dont happen to want the sport package for 16k? haha

^Not really. The only part of the sport package I am interested in is the M-Par wheels and the lower head rest in the sport seats.

The cold weather package is really on the top of the list of wants.

My sport has the cold weather package ! :) I think you can find it all if you look, esp for a 16k budget.. Honestly.

One of my mothers requirements is it has to have under 60k miles, that is very hard to find surprisingly. Most of the cars with under 60k miles are in Florida and almost none of them have the cold weather package. This car is going to be primary my parents car, so is the royal red one.

It is a very specific e38 we are looking for. We are set on either silver or dark green for the exterior color. It doesn't matter if it is is short or long wheel base. We don't want a 750. In general we are only looking at the 2001 model year cars.

It takes a lot to please my mother, but she is the one that really wants the car. She is the one that made us buy the royal red one after our 98 e38 wouldn't pass inspection any more. She loves these cars and there is only one other car that she wants more than an e38.

An e55? :)

If the car is for moms then it's perfect, moms don't care about being sporty do they ? :)

You would be wrong. She openly admits that she loves how the car handles in the twisties. She just won't drive it like that unless she is alone though, or if a road trip is getting a little long.
If you meant e65, no, she hates the new BMW's styling. She likes the e38s styling, trust me, she has very good taste.
If you meant the Benz, our family had some very bad experiences with the local Benz dealer, we had an 86 420sel and an 87 300e before the e38.

How did you guess? She has wanted 98-03 Jag XJ8 since before we bought the first e38 in 2000. The e38 was the alternative to the Jag because it is not a good idea to buy a car if the closest dealer that will fix it is over 100 miles away. The BMW dealer is 3 miles away.

That silver E38 is clean!

Looks to be in good shape. Low Miles. Which if you imported would be extremely common. Back seats are loose for not being used a lot.:shifty Nice car though.

Hmm, well I don't get what the seller means by "last REAL 7-series around" but thats nothing special minus the mileage. For $ 16K you can get a lot better cars than a E38. Its clean but over-priced.

31k miles means this thing was sitting most of the time and these cars don't like to sit. I really would not focus on miles with E38s. If the car has low 100k miles and has been maintained, seems like a much better choice IMHO. The car is still 9 (soon 10) years old, you are going to need to do exactly the same maintance on it as 90k-100k miles E38.

It's absolutely gorgeous! I'm always a little nervous about cars driven less than 4k per year. Cars don't sit well, but it's still awesome. Better than an E38?:lol

I was wondering about the better than an e38 part too.
There were better e38s but the had B12 badges and weren't sold in America.

We don't really care about the possibility of initial maintenance issues. What we put into our 98 e38 in the 8 years that we owned it would actually still buy this 01 e38.

^ Ditto. Cars in general dont like to sit. I have never had good luck buying cars with super low miles. I wouldnt consider buying an e38 with less than 60k.

On a side note when are YOU going to get one?

Wow, beautiful shape! I don't know...........looking at that car's interior and looking at mine.........it must have been awesome driving these cars brand new! Go with your gut.

When I am out of college and when I no longer have to drive my grandparents perfect condition Oldsmobile 88. I don't think I am allowed to sell that car until they are gone it would break their hearts. The Olds only has 57k miles on it and makes a fantastic car for a commuter student.

Plus I would never park a nice car in the commuter lots at my school. I have 4 or 5 dents in the car due to other stupid students how drive Toyota Tarcels and Pontiac 6000s bumping into my car. I had a kid once open his door flat into the side of my Olds while I was sitting in it!!

Trust me I want an e38.

16k is really high! But that said its probably one of the cleest E38s I have seen in a long time! If you have got the cash I say go for it!

I'll do the MK4 if asking price is the agreed amount. Anything lower, as is.

Sorry nah2323 but my mother hates blue with a passion, especially dark blue. Else I think your car is fantastic, it looks amazing.

That car is beautiful. Immaculate condition. The low miles make it sketchy though, not to mention it's a little over-priced.

That is a nice clean e38, I love the wheels and I love silver BUT the silver/gray combo is pretty boring, I would want a black interior for some contrast. As others have said the price seems a little high (but you said $ wasn't an issue) I would not be too concerned about the low mileage AS LONG AS IT WAS PUT ON SLOWLY OVER TIME AND DIDN'T SIT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS. Also the reserve hasn't even been met yet at over 16K. I would predict that the seller is unrealistic and the car won't meet the reserve.

It is a bit over priced but it is exactly what we are looking for. We will see in a few days when the auction gets closer to an end if the price is acceptable.

The seller took down the car :( You can now see what the bids were. I wonder if he found a different buyer...

EDIT: I found the car on another website for $22,100. Someone probably found it and jumped on it fast, since the bids surely would of passed the $22k mark. According to the ebay bid history, the one guy bid $20k and there were 5 others who bid over $18k.

What? someone must be absolutely mental to pay over $14k for any e38 unless its an alpina or similar even then I would have serious doubts about doing that. Over $20k w/o sport pkg. nuts!
