View Full Version : Angel Eye bulb for an '08 335XI E90 Sedan? I have OEM Adaptive Xenon & AE's

I have an '08 335XI E90 Sedan with the adaptive Xenon headlights and factory AE's which are a tint of yellow.

What is the factory bulb called? H7 or H8? Is it a xenon, LED, Halogen, HID, etc.?

I have searched for a week now, but with all of the different makes/models of BMW with all different headlights and questions regarding adding the whole kit, people who have halogens, people with older and newer models, etc. etc. etc. I am so lost.

On Autozone, the DRL bulb is an H7. Is that the Angel Eye bulb? If it's just a simple H7 bulb, why is the bf.c vendor charging $149 for an "upgraded 6000k" bulb?! WTF?

Also, why do I keep reading that the bulb isn't an H7 but an H8??

Which is it?

I'm going nuts here just trying to find a replacement bulb... and what my options are, I am even more lost!

Out of curiosity, aren't you still covered by the 4 year maintenance? Bulb replacement is covered by this.

The H7 is the halogen DRL bulb, not the corona ring (pg 229) (the inner pair of lights).

Here is the bulb info from Sylvania's web site.

I would just take the stock one out and see what it is. Don't trust what Autozone says. They swore to me that my 2008 328i coupe required an H7 bulb for the AE, but it had an H8 in there from the factory.

BTW, they are a bitch to replace unless you have the hands of a 5 year old girl. The access door on top of the headlight assembly is a joke (as far as giving you enough room to get your hand in there.) You might want to just go to the dealer as I've heard there is an SIB out for the E9x to replace the AE bulbs with long life bulbs.

Not sure if your setup will be the same though since yours is a sedan. Good luck.

I am under maintenance still with BMW. Thanks for the replies :)

I have been looking for the alternative replacements that will take me from the 4300k yellowish rings and give me alternatives in 6000k+ or maybe even color.

I do not like having just the one choice, $149, that the BF.C sponsor keeps talking about. There are plenty of companies and I would like to weigh my options rather than just paying out the @$$ because a sponsor tells me what he offers.

I own a BMW because I'm good with money. You don't have a nice car by overspending. :)

I found a few websites with some other options, one of which has a set of 6000k bulbs for only $90. They also have a blue and red option, which I'm curious if those are even legal on the street. I'm sure people would take the risk...

No they are not legal and chances are you could be pulled over pretty quickly for having them.
By the way, we always recommend our supporting vendors because we have a history with them here and we know what kind of support and customer service they offer, and that they offer quality products. You are free to go with any other vendor, but as they say, Caveat Emptor, especially on eBay.

My advice, go check out ECS Tuning. My wife's cousin owns it and they have good OEM stuff, including the OEM bulbs on their website. Like any vender, there are pros and cons. They charge like crazy for shipping and aren't always the cheapest ( which is why i don't always buy from them) but like he mentioned ^^^ i would support the venders on here. ECS is a vender on here i believe?

I can't find the E90 kit on your website. Searching by BMW 3-Series E90, it isn't in the list either.

Can you post up a direct link please? I'm interested, especially with a 50% discount :)

lol, I just started a similar thread. I can tell you this- the E90 facelifted cars use an H8 bulb in 35 watt part# 63-21-7-160-782. Still, I can't get a definitive answer from anyone on an update led kit. I just bought one on e-bay for $130.00 Jlumi something with the fancy split looking led and they were horrible, only lighted up the inner ring.
