Hey, So I have been bored lately due to my friends being VW people who piss me off. so I figure I'll do this. If there is anyone who just wants to bullshit about cars in general or BMWs in particular, I am all game to just chat and BS.

Maybe tell ideas and discuss anything interested that has to do with them i guess.

Have fun and be nice if you decide to talk on this thread thanks.

nah, just like somewhere you can talk about anything which doesnt require a new thread to discuss. kinda see this as an open chat to talk about whatever bmw related weather it be ideas what you want to do or just bs about car stuff.

I know, right? How does that work?

Well, I can understand where you're coming from. Most of the people I know don't know anything about BMW. My GF actually gets upset sometimes because she thinks I'm obsessed with all things BMW (she's a Honda person, go figure).

I'm sure most of the topics have been discussed to death already but here's a question I will direct towards you personally (or anyone else who wants to answer).

What do you think about modding bimmers? Are you into that at all or are you more of a "leave it stock" kind of person? Any planned modifications for the future?

Just happened a few minutes ago. I park my Bimmer at the University lot, kid driving an A4 2.0T pulls in and parks right beside me. Tells me that " I bought the wrong car ", and will out run me any day of the week because his engine is " turbocharged! "

My buddy ( Fellow owner too ) who carpools with me and I couldn't help but start laughing.

Kid makes a weird confused face and walks away. Im still silently laughing about it in my head during class.

That's a good one. I'd still be laughing too if I were in your place. He probably has no idea... That's one kid who didn't do his homework beforehand.

LMAO thats awesome! i love when people do that!

And for your earlier question I like both to be honest. Some BMWs I think should be left alone and some should be tampered with. Like for instance. E36s, they, I think are great either way. If you want that 2 door 4 seater sports car with a decent engine good power, cumfy, classy, easy to use controls in and just all around a good car. the E36 is by far the best of both worlds. It has sport luxury and the ability to be modded. in a tasteful manner. like mine. Its outside is bone stock except my Black grills and Projector/HID headlights. I had euro clear tails and corners, but I felt it looked a little classier with amber tails and corners with euro projector hids. the only other thing i will do to the exterior, is the spoiler. On my 95 325is i had this like perfect wing. it was a euro 325is Hartge wing with the black foil lip like on E30 M3s. then i found before it stopped selling. a carbon fiber insert from UUC Motorwerkes with 3 adjustment levels. i sold the car without taking it off now i cant find that exact wing, nor does UUC make that piece anymore. I have found on DDM tuning that same spoiler all carbon fiber will get all but the lip painted avus blue to match the car. to keep that factory look. I want mine to look factory...wait i should say i want it to look the way i would have wanted it out of the factory last thing for exterior is a diff set of wheels. alls left is turbo.

But like before i think either way the E36 M cars are just spectacular. for the price you pay you get the best handling , great power, great looks, great reliability, and class. all in one. IMO. its the best BMW model. though i do feel BMW should have made more power out of the US spec engines. 240hp is nice but when the car was new you could get the same power numbers from a supra or 300zx twin turbo , lik i said not same class car the bmw is classier and has more options and handles better, but just in power output the euro engines are how ours should be. Well we should have just gotten those.

i know how you feel. some guy in a 2001 audi 1.8t came up to me in my M and said too bad your car has no turbo or anything special *revs his engine* *shitty blow off valve spits off and sounds like i opened a 5 month old bottle of OJ that was sitting under a bed* i laughed light turned green he took off i waited to 5 stepped down and flipped him off as i blew past him. good times.

HAHA what is it with all these Audi stories?

MPowerDan...I agree with the whole some BMWs should be left alone. I think the absolute perfect example is the e39 M5 aka my favorite car ever (and thats saying something) That car really is perfect. Plus if you do any drastic mods you kill off that classic M5 look of a Wolf in sheep's clothing.

Yah, If you buy an M5 the only thing I would do to one is maybe the exhaust a chip lower the suspension put maybe different wheels...maybe. idk. but other than that leave it alone they were made to drive a certain way.

But i do like tastefully modded beasts, such as track cars and high performance built engines.

I am pretty much against any mod to styling. The only styling modification I have done is an OEM front license delete. I think in general BMW did a good job out of the factory with all of their cars made pre Bangle.

I am not a huge fan of the M styling either. The e39 looks much better in my opinion with the stock bumpers instead of the M bumpers.

i agree and disagree, The M3s should have a lower suspension and more power output. but in general they did a good job i do not like that fact that factory wheels on M cars are only 17x7.5 i like 17 inch wheels but only 7.5 inches wide? if anything they should have been put on a 17x8.5 front and 17x8.5 rear 245/35/17 rear and 235/35/17 front . just for general driving experience , i think the M3s from E30-E36 should be a tad lower in stance and have wider wheels on them and more power. i think 192 horsepower out of a 2.3 ITB engine is uncool. I dont care what year they were made. the E30 M3s should have made at least 50 more horse power stock. and the US E36 M cars should have made 300hp. BMW compares the E36 cars to Porsche 911, corvette, viper. if i remember on the original banner. it said the best handling car in North america and 7 others that wish they were. and it had FD3s Rx7 twin turbo and a few other fast expensive rides. why did they only make it produce 240hp? for the price at the time the supra would kick its ass in power out put and so would the 300zx twin turbo and even the mazda rx7 twin turbo would be at par in output. i know these cars are Forced Induction, but the BMW is spose to be top of hte line performance luxury car. and then a car that is half as quality build and class can just right up and walk away. i know they are different classes but still come on back in 1995 a BMW M3 was like what 45-50 grand? a supra was maybe 26 and the same for mazda , and nissan. and i do realize that the euro motors were more to the number that they should have been here but idk, why dont we have an affordable effective ITB swap unit that can bring out S50/S52s into the same power as the S50B30 and S50B32? if there was a decent priced ITB i wouldnt be interested in Turboing my car but turbo on an S50 is so far the cheapest most affordable highest power producing application i could find that its easy to do ...Just go to TRM . ideally I'd want my motor ITB and turbo but that is a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$:(

For some reason I love the M5 wheels. They look decent in pictures, but when you are actually standing there in front of the car they look about 100x better, and they look really good from the rear, mainly because they are pretty fat for stock wheels.

And yes I would absolutely do an exhaust and a chip to remove the limiter.

My best friends are VW whores. One of them has a Brother in Law with a GLI Fahrenheit edition, it's making 250 to the wheels. Me, I appreciate any car that has been modded tastefully regardless of make. For example, I honestly believe the E39 M5 and E36 M3 bodies should be kept stock because they look amazing. The problem I had with the GLI was that it didn't have that same feeling, connection my Bimmer had. It also had KW V3 Coilovers which rode really nice but of course it didn't handle like the Bimmer. I feel that BMW did a super great job on the E36, even though a lot of you hate on it, you have to admit it for 90's technology the car was definitely incredible. Another problem I had with the GLI was the plain Jane interior and cramped space in the back seat and front seat. The interior feels quality made sure but it looks like crap to me and all that blue would definitely hurt my eyes.

I'd actually act like I hate and diss VW just to see them go all Fan-Boy at me. They always drop the "We own Porsche, Audi, Bugatti and Lamborghini, who does BMW own?''
I love lil Honda kids too, they think they drive the fastest cars on earth. I don't even go after them just a waste of time to me. I got flicked off because I didn't want to race one of them.......Cop pulled him over immediately after LMAO

I too like any tasteful made car. yah VW people are always backing themselves up. I asked them why is it that a 1.8liter twin cam turbo engine making 8-10 pounds of boost only make 180hp. they always come back and say uhh well the VR is like soo much better dude. yah their 2.8 dohc v6 engine puts out less than my old 325is 2.5 liter straight six. VR6 until like 99.5 made 176 hp and 178 tq. thats pathetic it has .2 liters and its a V6 should make more trq and bmws smallest 6 engine makes more. wtf. vw makes pussy week engines that cant really do much unless u do moron engineering and everything still goes wrong/ ,y friend has 12 grand into his 03 gti 20th . i have m 95 m3 with jsut intake headers trackpipe exhaust and the first night i had the car he put his GT30 turbo up to 18 pounds and realistically he should have owned the fuck out of me with a built 1.8t with a gt30 r vs a stock M basically. i pulled on him both runs and i even gave him the edge since hes got front wheel drive POS that jsut spins tires i let him run me both times from a roll at 35-40 mph. and it was a lame ass drag.

I personally like corners thats why i got a BMW M3 best cornering machine ever i love the balance the style the engine sound the looks everything its my favorite car basically the E36 M3. thin kwhat happens if i actually get serious and start taking him n corners and back roads. his front wheel drive will jsut understeer and by the time he can get all his power out of the turbo the next corner is there where i like my 5speed over 6 i can keep it in 3rd gear longer and just brake for a corner instead of having to then go from 3rd to 4rth then bck to 3rd because his tighter 6 speed ratios. BMW FTW ON CORNERS CIRCUIT!!!!!

yah I ran a 600 GSXR raped it, a roush mustang Supercharged gave it 7 lengths still raped it, a 1000GSXR kept up with it almost pulled away but ran out of room. a Lamborghini Giiardo Supperleggara raped it. an R1 an R4 and something else none of them were soo fast that it wasnt fair it was all good runs.

but the fact that a 3500 pound 2 door could keep par with a 500 pound 1000 cc bike with extended drag tail.

ditch the 1.8 engine throw in an M52 which is the 2.8 liter and then boost it with lower compression.

There are Turbo kits made custom by owners for 1.8s but ive never seen a reputable company make one. im sure its easy minus the Tuning.

That could be pretty awesome. I was thinking of doing the same thing to my E36 M.

But i think a cheaper route, would be to turbo the S50 id pick up a lot more power than an S54 swap. but I also consider doing the S54 swap.
