Chaps,

Got an unusual problem with the 4/3 display. This is a retrofit I did about 1,5 months ago and until now everything was fine. I would like to stress at this point that I took extra care when installing the harness making sure it's not rubbing against anything and is properly fastened to the floor.

The problem was intermittent for a few days but now it's there all the time. If you look at the images you will see what's going on. When you first get in the car, the image looks like it's displaying only one field (I'm guessing that this display is interlaced?). The image is jittery and very bright as if some of the pixels weren't lighting up and making the backlight shine through the matrix. After a while in the car it gets worse and vertical lines appear.

The only bit of troubleshooting I've been able to do at the moment was to disconnect the TV module and plug the blue cable directly into the nav drive. The problem was still there. I have not had the opportunity to replace the monitor yet.

Sorry for the quality but my camera is flat.

It seems when it warms up the screen goes blank, could be the display that has a loose connection

Looks to me like the LCD is failing. I have seen similar smear on desktop LCD units. Can you swap with someone and test?

EdwinNL, unless I've misunderstood you the image doesn't go blank with time. It just gets more faint. The first two pictures show the display in at it's worst. The last image just shows the screen in AV setting. Regarding the bad connection, I will dismantle the monitor and see if anything obvious might be up the spout there.

Xephius - at the moment this is not an option but it's #1 on my "to do" list. It'll take some convincing but I might be able to get a friend of mine to remove his 16.9.

If any of you have some more ideas please post away. I'll keep this thread updated for future reference.

Still no luck with getting hold of another monitor.

I dismantled my monitor to see if I could find anything obvious like a loose socket and was surprised to see that the monitor is a completely separate unit.

So from the very obvious deduction process, the white socket is responsible for the image on the monitor and the blue one feeds audio into the TV module and links to the ibus.

If I'm looking for a fault in the wiring, I should only be concentrating on the white socket?

It's probably worth adding that I currently have the black TV module which is supposedly a museum piece. Knowing this, would you still suspect the monitor?
