So I can across this craigslist add:
http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/ctd/2007544664.html
I decided to give it a shot and see what happens. We the 'owner' contacted me and posted back a link to pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/erpechere/2001BMWM5?authkey=Gv1sRgCJGbwLK3pNK51AE#slideshow/
That car for $5,600... yeah right. So the car was posed for sale in MO, and the owner said he just got a new job in AZ and can't make the sale personally. The car is stored at a DAS terminal in Tampa Bay, FL. And in the pics the car has CA plates. My question is who really owns this car that this guy has pictures of? Anyone know? They should be informed.
I wish I would look up the VIN and get some more info to mess with this guy. Autotrader doesn't even have the ad listed.
Here is the email between me and said seller (who i am now toying around with):

Hello,
The price is $5600.
This car is a real 'head turner' and it will make you proud, it is in excellent condition, never been involved in accidents, 87,418 miles, VIN:WBSDE93411BZ98289 ,clean and clear title,no mechanical problems,no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, all functional and it will need nothing in the near future.
I have the car sealed at DAS terminal in West Palm Beach, FL ready to be shipped out will take 4-5 days through DAS and it will be free,my previous buyer(his loan did not get approved)already paid for it and DAS didn't want to refund him the shipping fee. So you will not be charged for shipping!
I cannot meet face2face I have a new job in Tucson, AZ I would like to use Autotrader Vehicle Purchase to take care of this deal, smooth and safe. Let me know if you have any other questions, hope i didn't miss anything.

Hi Jason,
That is a nice car and a great price. I would like to see the car before the purchase and drive it home. How does the Autotrader Vehicle Purchase work? Is it a long proccess?
I thought the car would be in Greentop, MO. In what state is the M5 registered? It sounds a little fishy that the car is at a DAS terminal in Florida, while you are in Arizona and can't personally make the sale. Can you help me understand why this wouldn't be a scam? I don't mean to be doubtful, but hopefully you can understand where I am coming from. I have been buying cars for years and I have always bought in person with (cash or a bank check) from the owner and drove away with the car and car title.
Thank you,
John

Here is how it works if you have never used Autotrader.
You send me your full name and your shipping address so I can initiate the transaction.Autotrader contacts you with further details regarding the payment and shipping process. You submit the payment to Autotrader, Autotrader confirms the payment and asks me to release the shipment.I ship the car which should be at your door within 5 business days. You have a 3 days inspection period before you confirm the deal and Autotrader forwards the payment to me or you cancel the deal and you get your money back and return the car free of charge.
Basicly Autotrader holds your money safe until you confirm that this car is what you have been expected and you want to buy it. It is not a sight unseen deal.
On the other hand I can ship my car knowing Autotrader has your money and you won't disappear with my bmw. We are both covered.Sorry for the long emails I have tried to touch all bases.
Thank you, Jason.

I called Autotrader and they do not offer any type car purchasing through their business. They only sell spots for advertising cars. They even said that this sale is more than likely fraudulent
You never answered me about why the car was listed in MO, has CA plates, and is housed in FL or about where the car is registered.
I am still willing to work on something here. I will fly you to FL and meet you at the airport. We can drive to the cars location, look at it, discuss details over coffee and go to your local bank where you can deposit the check for the car. I will get the title, drive you back to the airport and you fly back home. It just depends on how serious you ae about selling the car assuming this is not a fraud.
Please feel free to call me.
John
