First post- I have owned german made cars for years, this is my first bmw. My name is Max, and I have learned a lot reading on this site.
I've had two great trips to junk yards in my area in the past couple of days:
First day from the junk yard- new door speakers, leather arm rest, OBD 11 button, ash trays, and window button $35. lol
Second day from impound- K2 Jetta heated seats, hella fog light projectors, golf ball shifter knob, silver cluster, alternator, starter, windshield, hatch, roof rack, etc $100. lol
The second day inspired me to retrofit my E36 fog lights.
Items needed-
hella vw fog light projectors (94-99)- ($80-$100 on ebay, $125 on other sites)
epoxy putty ($8 UAP)
aluminum duct high heat tape ($14 home depot)
100W H3 bulbs ($10 each at Canadian tire)
Tools needed-
Dremel with small cut off wheel
I started the project by marking the outline of the hella projector housing on the back of the E36's fog light. Then with the dremel, I cut along the outline.

The hella projector fit into the fog light very snug. But be careful not to push the projector too far into the fog light housing. You do not want to damage the projector lens by pushing it against the glass lens of the fog light.

I used the aluminum tape to remove some of the area where light from the bulb would escape the projector.

I then used the epoxy putty to seal the projector into the housing.

I let it dry a few hours until the epoxy was fully cured.
I used the boots made for the hella projectors, it required cutting the E36's fog light boots and heat shrinking the wires together.
Finished Product

Pictures could have been better, I was excited to continue the project.
Let me know if you have any questions.
