Hey, Im throwing a p0133 and a p0153, Looks like Im going to replace both the pre cat o2 sensors to fix this problem

the issue Im having is what exactly is the right sensor for my car

I have read 3 threads here already regarding this, but has too much i6 and v8 vanos information in it, hence im confused..especially with the different people selling it at different prices ($62- $130)

So far, the conclusion I have come across is that the boshe 13599 is what I need. correct?.... or is it different for the pre-vanos guys?

and this is the cheapest place to get the sensor I need?
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Bosch-Oxygen-Sensor/1997-BMW-540I/_/N-j8ud1Z8gcvpZ1z13yie?counter=0&filterByKeyWord=oxygen+sensor&fromString=search&itemIdentifier=232200_102074_1784_98503

They have a LEFT and RIGHT upstream pre cat... so I just get both of them ?... same 13599 part number for both.

thanks for the help guys, I did search, i just needed some confirmation.

If you have a 97 540i, then that would be the correct pre-cat O2 sensor. And yes, Autozone has the cheapest pre-cat sensors (not post). How are your cats?

I plan on getting it from autozone, but I wanted to confirm that 13559 for our pre vanos engine is the correct one I need. (left and right as per their description)

didnt check my cats... how do I go about this?... what goes wrong?...if something is wrong would the car throw a different code?

Yes, they are correct (left & right). Both the same part # (13559). Cat would throw different FC. Call Autozone to make sure they have them there, before you stop by.
