I changed the oil recently to discover the bolt was shot so I replaced it.

I'm parked outside a store this evenign and underneath oil is GUSHING out of somewhere?

I drive it home fast so's I don;t get stranded. When I get home I crawl underneath to not only find no oil leaking but checking the dipstick and the level is fine! Only thing I can put it down to was that I over filled it and it decided to wait 2 weeks to gush out? Everything else seems fine but I'm no expert.\, any help welcome

I don't think it's logical to assume you overfilled it, and it subsequently leaked out of a large hole which then disappeared when you looked for it. Perhaps it was something else leaking? Like atf from a trans line or from the ps system, or coolant?

check your oil filter housing... i had the same leak and i had the engine running while shining a flash light to examine the engine bay..
as i just replaced valve cover gasket so i am sure it is not valve gasket.and i found out oil was flowing out from oil filter housing.the new gasket only costs me like $7 but took me 3 hours to replace it as i had to loose the belt, take out alternator..etc...
on your 318i should be easier as u have more room in the engine bay...

If something was gushing, there should be some evidence as to where it was coming from. Our crankcases are under a slight vacuum at idle, so something would be drawn in instead of gushing out unless an oil line was punctured or sender let go.
