Over the weekend my friends and I did some work on my e36.
I ended up swapping wheels/tires with a friend.
Up front I'm now running 235/45/17 and out back I'm running 245/40/17.
ASC had zero issues until the wheels and tires went on.
Now, unless I turn the ASC off, the ASC will flash at various times. It seems to coincide primarily with hitting a bump, but it's done it a couple times while just cruising along on even surface at normal speed.
I've read on a few other boards that having tires that vary in diameter can throw off the speed sensors and cause the ASC to have issues.
Anyone else experienced this?
More details - Front tires are 235/45/17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and have a diameter of 25.4". Rear tires are 245/40/17 Continental ContiSportContact 3's and have a diameter of 24.7".
OEM staggered setup with 225/45/17 up front would give a front tire diameter of 25".
Is the .4" difference enough to trip the ASC? I've read that the wheel speed sensors are pretty sensitive and the car is probably thinking that since the front tires are rotating so much less than the back, that the rear tires are losing traction.
