i hit an idiot in traffic because i was a little impatient and assumed he would move, learned my lesson there, but now i have a horrible alignment. got underneath and everything looked ok. but my left front is very toed out, when the wheel is straight and the right side is straight as well. does this mean a bent control arm? steering rack, tie rod and knuckle look to be ok.
heres a pic with the steering wheel straight.

by the looks of it, i think i bent the control arm at the rear most mounting point. would i be correct in this assumption? i dont wanna fix the wrong part.

I would think you bent the frame rail but the other side is straight. Did your wheel come in contact with the other car?

Check your tie rod first. I've bent one on a car pretty bad before and that caused similar issues to what you are showing.

was the damage to the tie rod visible? because i have looked, and they look pretty good. maybe it would help if i said that now at full left lock, my brake caliper hits the swaybar and control arm.

I've heard control arms bend very easily, but we can't really tell from just that picture. Hopefully the frame is straight.

Control arms and tierods. Replace them. Even if not bent now, they have take a hit and will be more prone to failure.

For sure an alignment, and Tie rods.
Compare the left and right sides to see if the control arms are messed up
When I smashed into a curb with my E36, it was the steering rack

Put it up on a floor jack, throw a jack stand underneath for safety and take some pics underneath.
