There was one in eatontown, it was on ebay, 1997 red 2dr automatic. Had 139k miles, a few tasteful dinan mods etc... Guy was asking 12,900 for it buy now. I dont think it sold.
The car looked to be in very good physical condition.... and was certainly in your price range, try searching and see if it comes up in the completed auctions.
I have nothing to do with the car, just happened to have seen the ad for it.
Take care and hope this helps,
George

George Thats way too many miles though. I'm looking for something more along the lines of 50-80K miles.

50k is going to be tough.... especially under 16k.
80-90 I could see, but right at your high end of the price range.
Good Luck with the hunt.

Actually, I'm having pretty good luck finding cars in my price and mileage range. It just seems that people tend to overvalue these M3s on these forums. In real life, the prices do tend to reflect blue book value much more closely. Although, your right, 50k is tough to find but I'm finding alot of cars around 65K.

I think its a tradeoff of age v/s mileage. You have to pick one or the other that is more important to you. An older car with less miles will be comprably priced with a newer one with more.
The m3's on this forum are pricey, but I think most of them have some sort of mods, which if you were to get a bone stock consumer one, it would not include, so overall, if you like what has been done to the car, it may be worth it to pursue one from here.
Secondly, the cars here tend to be owned by enthusiasts, who by and large have a greater attention to detail, as well as more religious maintenance than the typical consumer.
You should see the C43 AMG I went to see last week. The car was so rough (and this was a 98 with 51k miles) that I had to question whether the oil had ever been changed. Bald tires, one rim curbed so badly it had to be replaced, dings and scratches everywhere....
He wanted 16,500 for the car, I refused to even consider it.
Take care,
George
