Hi guys.
Long story short:
I have just put in new spark plugs and changed oil(5W-40) on my 99 m3. I took a car for a short joy ride afterwards. After making a short stop at a convenience store, I went to fire up the car and it took just a bit longer to fire up than usual. Check engine light came right after start.
When I got home, I scanned the system and it showed P0340 code, which is "camshaft position sensor". I cleared the code and the car was fine for next couple days.
However, today it took a bit longer to start when cold and the same P0340 code came back on. Now it comes on every time I start the car, even after I erase it.
I have new sensor on order. BUT, could this code be related to oil weight or any other factors?
P.S. Car has normal power, but very slight roughness at idle now.
Please let me know.
Mike.
