It sounds like you've already sold the car, and the buyer is picking it up on Sunday? If that's the case, you likely won't recoup the cost of a professional paint correction.

Just give it a wash with Dawn to strip the old wax, clay it using an over-the-counter clay kit like Mother's or Clay Magic, and put on a coat of over-the-counter sealant or carnauba. Meguiar's NXT 2.0 is easy to apply and looks great, but doesn't last very long.

:eyecrazy I hope the text was a joke. Have you tried posting on the Autogeekonline forum? We have a ton of detailers on our forum. If you can't find anybody to help you out and you don't have time to get quality products shipped to you than I would go to the local auto parts store and purchase a Clay Bar, Pre Wax Cleaner and a Paint Sealant. Thes products will help give the paint surface a very slick & glossy finish.

i dont think the txt was a joke, but thx for the advice bobby. i have mothers clay bar, what would be a good pre wax cleaner and paint sealant that i could find at a autozone or pepboys for the time being, since they are the closest auto parts store to me?

I don't think you'll need to do both a cleaner wax AND a clay bar. The clay bar cleans the paint after washing but before polishing/waxing ... I mean, that's its sole purpose. Just wash thoroughly, then clay, using a fresh batch of car wash soapy water as clay lube. Then rinse, dry, and seal/wax.

As for the sealant, the NXT 2.0 (in the purple bottle) is readily available.

i know that purpose of clay barring, so pretty much if i have no other choice the NXT 2.0 is my best bet? alright thx alot, i actually might have a friend who will give me a hand with my car, if he cant, ill take before and after pics and see how well the nxt 2.0 performs

I bought the NXT 2.0 based on this thread and was happy with it. The only drawback, as stated above, is that it doesn't last terribly long compared to some other products. But it's very easy to use and it looks great.

Having said that, I don't use it any more; I now use Klasse All-in-One, topped by Klasse Sealant Glaze, topped by Collinite 476S. I don't think the Klasse will be easy to find at local shops, but you might be able to find Collinite at Harbor Freight, or marine supply shops.

P.S. Free detailing AND a foot rub??!? What could go wrong?

A Clay Bar and a Pre Wax Cleaner are different products and serve a different puprose. A Clay Bar will remove, Tar, Tree Sap, Overspray, Rail Dust and also smooth out the paint surface. a Pre Wax Polish Cleaner will remove old wax and oxidation from the paint surface. I always recommend using a Pre Wax Cleaner or Polish after using a Clay Bar. A Clay Bar can possibly mar the paint a little and the Polish or Pre Ceaner will help remove any marring caused by the Clay Bar.

Probably the best products your going to find at a local auto parts store will be Mothers or Meguiars products. They should offer these products?

Mothers -
California Gold Clay Bar Paint Saving System
California Gold Pre- Wax Cleaner
California Gold Pure Carnauba Wax

Meguiars -
Smooth Surface Clay Kit
Mirror Glaze #6 Cleaner/Wax
Mirror Glaze #26 Liquid Hi-Tech Liquid Car Wax

Clay also cleans out the "pores" of your clear coat. It's amazing how much crap it pulls out that you can't even see. If you get the Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit it comes with a small bottle of cleaner wax as well as a decent microfiber.

Thanks for the clarification - I thought you were talking about those all-in-one cleaner waxes.
