Its coming down to buying an exhaust for the m3 soon. Im pretty sure its going to be the eisenmann race. Ive got some n00b questions beforehand though and it'd be great if you fellas could help me out.
Im looking at the eisenmann website, and theres a bunch of options..I want the one that is in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lmY_MQuxZ0&feature=player_embedded
and this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2ACtsEkOwo
Im looking at the eisenmann website..and theres lots of options..and im wondering..whats up with this? The thing on the side? http://www.ind-distribution.com/product/product_detail.php?query=view&code=36&Category1=2&Category2=36&no=155&Opt=

It's just if you want dual (or quad) tailpipes. There's no performance gain to be had, it's purely for looks.

.......Eargasm. :buttrock
That is perfect, it sounds so angry. I don't know if i could DD that though, and I don't think the girlfriend would be too happy about it :(

I wish I could definitively find out if this exhaust drones badly at highway speeds...sounds like it would. I love my stromung, but it's not beastly enough for me.

No drone.
Yes I just got this exhaust in the summer.
I saw a thread where it listed the ehxausts noise level from 1-10 at wot.
and they put the eisenmann race at 6. bang on imo.
it makes some noise but its not over bearingly loud at all imo. any modded oem muffler ive heard in person were much much louder(and not nearly as nice sounding)
and the exhaust is perfect at going away when you are at cruising speed/throttle.
no drone on the highway while cruising..even letting off...you know its there, but its not bad at all. give it some gas on the highway in 5th and it sounds like a sporty semi truck. lol
but again, very tame especially with the windows up.
i have full interior. with the windows up my intake makes more noise in the cabin at wot.
you have to have the windows down to get more of the experience...and being next to a concrete barrier its even better :) (im sure thats the case with all m3 exhausts since the car is quiet inside)
its perfectly fine for daily driving.
its there...but its not obnoxious at all.
I have a 3" greddy catback on the STi and its way louder cruising around.
to the OP.
the first video is exactly what its like. i used that video to help me make up my mind.
its eisenmann race. you can tell its a race version(when you get it)by the it being stamped "SS" on the bottom.
also for the us spec. its the exact same set up as the 325i/328 so that will also be stamped on the bottom. it only has to do with the diameter of the piping compared to the euro spec.
the only other option is the diameter of the tips. 76 mm is the best imo(and what i have). fills the gap in the bumper perfectly without being overly large(like the 8x one is).
heres my car

that second vid , the guy has straight pipes/no cats so its louder than a pure bolt on system with oem cats/mid pipe. same kind of sound, just more decibels.
I also got a great deal off the forums for it(new). I dont know if I could stomach paying the going retail rate.

And if i cant find something used, I dont care too much, Ill pay retail.

You really cant find anything better to spend a grand on than an exhaust...?

Adding the exhaust definitely what was needed(for me) to enjoy the car a whole lot more.
lots of other things to spend the money on (For sure)..i just ordered a stewart water pump...among other crap i have laying around...
but if its in the cards for you. Its definitely a worth while mod as far as driving experience is concerned(imo)

im jealous youre buying this exhaust... they really do sound amazing! the only other exhausts i would put up there with this is the uuc rsc36 and rogue engineering dms.

2nd video has an AA Track Pipe with an Eisenmann. Just letting you know incase your looking for that EXACT sound. That one sounds nice.

+1 I got the AA Race and its by far the best sounding E36 exhaust that you can buy short of custom. My Schricks help it sound nasty too. I wouldn't do it on an NA unless you got a decent amount of mods like you do.
